As to VFETs, it's gotten pretty thin. I have about 400 of the Sony VFETs
allocated for the last project, which is 400 channels, plus a few for repair
and my own use.
SIT-1 transistors are also on their last production release. The SIT-3
is slated for 250 amplifiers. Again, I have rejects and a few allocated
for repair and R&D, but that's it.
After that, a few very large parts, 2SK77B and other Tokin 300W devices,
not enough for a production run.

Better buy transistors from new old stock source who get them packaged in the same box.
Big chance they are made from the same semiconductor wafer and have similar characteristic
so it's more chance to find good matched duo.
Ask seller for matched pairs and try make offer to buy more for less money. Best regards

Back to topic yes vfet's are rare but today we can buy hundreds on line from good source.
Price is less 10% of NOS triode made by Western Electric and have 90% of life span more.
After Iron Amp and SIT Némésis with the output transformers
