Hey there guys. I stopped by my local Goodwill and found some small KLH Model 708s that use a single 4" driver. Unfortunately, one of the original drivers was replaced by a Radio Shack unit, but the price was right and I figured I may be able to use the one original driver for a nice center channel to go with some horns (Buschhorn MkII) I built for the Fostex FE103en.
The original cabinets for the KLH are only in fair shape, and are tiny measuring only 8"x14"x4.25" (h/w/d). It sounds pretty darn good as it is but I'd like to put something together to maximize what the little driver can do. (My apologies, Henry Kloss.) I have pretty good experience with wood and lots of tools that I like to use to disturb the neighbors and make a big mess. Maybe a double horn since this speaker will essentially "lay on its side"? Maximum dimensions must be within 8.5"x 32"x19" (h/w/d). Any thoughts?

Ha! I knew someone would want pictures! It's true KLH in all its ugly, raw glory. I'll shoot some this afternoon and post them.
The RS driver is a 40-1234, shielded 5". Some @#$% tried to pry it out of the cabinet but failed and ended up warping the frame (not to mention destroying the speaker's baffle.) Maybe easy enough to fix, but the foam is a little stiff too and surely needs replaced. Probably not really worth the time to fix it up since pairs of these go on you know where for about $25.

Got some photos of the KLH driver, here. I included a pic of the crossover too in case anyone was interested. I don't know much about that inductor, but it uses a 35V 150UF cap with a 12 Ohm, 7W resistor.

Its not a crossover, its a LCR EQ circuit for the driver in that box.

Hi, I can't believe you have the same speakers which I bought in a thrift shop as well! I've been trying to find out the model number of mines & thx to you. I finally know it...the one's I bought had rca jacks in the back so i modified them with banana connections to allow me to use them w/banana plugs, and i have to admit they sound brand new! You resolved my search, thx again.
