What Substitute For A PQ05RF21 Regulator

Hi,

I'm currently repairing a Roland digital reverb unit. I suspect a problem with the unit's power supply so I'm looking to replace the various components. The unit uses a PQ05RF21 voltage regulator. Are these still available? What would be a suitable substitute?

Also, there are a few of these listed on ebay - I'm a bit suspicious about these being the real thing - any thoughts on this?

Cheers,

Chris

Do you have 5v on the out pin? I recently replaced one of these in a old lady's organ, luckily I had a similar 5v4 pin reg pull. When I looked these are no longer made so your looking at using a LM7805, that is if the 4th pin isn't being used. On the organ in question I fixed the on/off/adjustment pin was grounded; have a look at the traces on your board, you might be lucky.

I ended up ordering one from ebay. It will probably take a few weeks to arrive so I'll post an update after that. The PSU contains six electrolytics which I've ordered from another place so they'll arrive much sooner. I'm hoping the problem lies with these and that the regulator can be kept as a spare.

Cheers!

Hi,

A quick update on the faulty Roland digital reverb. I replaced the six electrolytics in the power supply and the unit is working fine now. Didn't need the voltage regulators after all although I think I'll keep them as spares just in case.

Cheers,

Chris
