What size power supply for TDA7498E based amp?

I have the same combo but never noticed any "siesta". So it is no feature, I fear.

The small heat sink really frightens any old school amp guy. Surprisingly I did not see any significant temperature rise, even when using it to precondition 4 woofer for 2 days. Measured with an infrared thermometer, just a little over room temperature, fan never kicked in.
This board is a little bit complicated, if you try to increase the heat sink for passive cooling. A small copper block could be used as a spacer IMO.

The remarkable good sound of this board might be due to the 12x 470uF capacitors near the chip, giving a very low resistance. 5000uF are what you would consider the minimum capacity for a quality amp of 2x 50W /8 ohm in conservative amp building. The SMPS capacity adds to this.
To improve sound, one could bridge the diodes that are only there for reverse polarity protection. With this amp, because of the 12 capacitors following it, it may not be too sound relevant.
Hardly all cheap China amp boards have this, because to many users do not understand what AC, DC, positive and negative are and the sellers do not want to many blown amps returned...

@FauxFrench and @Turbowatch2 - thanx for both kind answers, gents :worship:

I'm lil affraid to attach direct 36V 5A onto board - but maybe all this protections kinda work on it? Maybe one of this mini toggle switch on DC line for my better feeling..but probably pops will be anyway in speakers when switching on..😀

Ordered the black PCB one, 2 Geekcreit🙂p) SMPS (36V and 24V) and some speaker terminals,Mini Digital Voltmeter Ammeter, RCA connectors...

Pick another lil 3116D2 amp - for my pair of small Eltax Monitor III - but this is for another thread 🙂

TDA7498E board review.
I picked this chip as I wished to repurpose an old amplifier and reuse the toroidal transformer which gave 35V DC.
I have tested the board using a 19V laptop supply, while testing I monitored the current consumption.
Speakers are IPL S3TL transmission line, 89dB sensitivity.

No volume consumption 8ma.
Normal listening level <9ma.
Cranking up the volume to draw 100ma, I could feel the bass through the floor and was concerned the neighbours might come knocking. This equates to <1W per channel mean output. Perhaps someone could tell what that might mean in terms of peak?
Noise - hiss from tweeter when ear placed on the grill, cannot hear from 30cm away.
Impression - sounds great.
Bass is tight, drums, electric bass all sound as they should.
Vocals & instruments all good. Listened to a mix of classical, rock, folk & speech radio.

With such low consumption I am ditching the plans to reuse the transformer and will save space in the case by keeping with the laptop supply. It's rated at 3A but I cannot get anywhere near that consumption.

I don't have such sensitive speakers so i want something more powerful so it can satisfy my need for power, without getting close to the max power it has (and therefor a change in sonic performance)

With the current class d amp i have i think i would be happy with the perfomance (power) if i had 89-91 db sensitive 4 ohm speakers
