I just hope that you won't get disappointed with Hammond just because of their 1628SE OPT.
Yesterday, I replaced the 1628SE with 1627SE in my 45/2A3 power amplifier. The 1627SE and 2A3 seems to be a perfect match. The sound it produce is incredibly great.
I am planning to use the two 1628SE in my new project of stereo 45 power amp later.

The problem is that the 1627 can't handle the current that the 1628 can so even if your amp can use it with the Zin it may not be able to because of current differences. I ended up going with the James 6123HS for my monoblocks and I think they sound great.
I did use Hammond iron for the PTX and choke though and they are performing perfectly.
