If using a HTPC at what resolution should I use for DVD playback ?
640x480 (too "small" ?)
1024x768 (too "much" ?)
what is the "real" or best resolution for the DVD ?
how about 1280x720 or 1920x1080 ?
anyway, here's url of my setup

I cant remember the exact DVD resolution, but 1024x768 wouldn't be overkill, nothing more would either, you would be playing it in full screen right? Any res more than dvd res just scales up to full screen. Like what computer monitors do. So the dvd'll turn out the exact same res at any comp resolution(exept for a res below dvd)
Hope this helps

Useful ????
I use 800*600 as the nearest *standard* resolution. On a (S-VIDEO widescreen from DVD) PAL system the 'native' resolution is around 720 pixels horizontal max. If you run linux, and you have a suitable display driver ,you could set up the exact horizontal resolution and a vertical resolution to retain the aspect ratio (unless you like looking at very tall people
).
PS Don't use fractional scaling (ie 1.5 times or whatever) as it will not look so good.
