You know,

the things that really get your goat..

Here is one that makes me 😡

You know when you are on a road with nothing about for as far as you can see and you are doing the max speed the law allows.. then some nice person comes up behind you and sits 2 feet from the back of your car so you can only see their windscreen..but they don't go round you and you ask yourself what difference is there if they drop back even half a mile and do the same speed what are they gaining if there is a rush just go past..but no..😕🙁😡

When that happens to me I just start gradually reducing my speed (No, I don't jam the brakes, that's dangerous!) Eventually the tailgater gets impatient and goes around. But occasionally you'll get that one dick that just mindlessly tailgates incessantly, testing your patience.
The road maneuver that I don't understand is the one where you get two cars rolling down the highway side by side, going less than the posted speed limit for no apparent reason, and neither one willing to budge no matter how much traffic has piled up behind them. That happened to me last month on a quick trip out of town. We were stuck behind them for almost fifteen miles going about 55MPH in a 70MPH zone before the one in the left (fast) lane decided to exit. Just totally inconsiderate.

Best one to date,

I come up behind a truck doing 40mph in a 60 area so I follow for about 10 mins and decide to go round. I get alongside the truck on a two way road..he puts his foot down so I floor it and He does the same..we are coming to a bend so I brake and drop back he does the same so I am still alongside the truck on the wrong side of the road. A car appears around the corner so I floor it again and he does the same..I look across and the windows are blacked out, so in desperation I think he is going with me so I cut straight across the front of him and he brakes then turns down a no entry and he is gone..

Be prepared!

For those situations you need to find the point at which pressing the brake pedal lights up the brake light but does not yet engage the brakes.
Ideally with your left foot but this requires some practice.
Easy enough to practice in an automatic in a traffic jam, with a manual you might need to find a quiet slope to practice safely.

Either way light up your brake lights with your left foot whilst accelerating to speed limit + 10% with your right.
Usually discourages them IME.

All maddeningly common experiences around here. The tailgating thing is a theme here too, highway 4 lanes wide each way, all other lanes wide open and there is a fellow riding my tail in the 3rd lane at 70mph. (112km/h) Sometimes the slow down tactic works, and sometimes changing lanes works, but as often as not it doesn't.. lol

It snows a lot here some winters, and no one slows down in the slightest, however let it rain during the other 8 months of the year and the typical maniacal speed demon MA driver will slow down to 50mph (80kmh) or less. I find that sort of strange and don't remember it being the case 20 or so years ago.

A lot of our roads are three lanes, so no passing for long stretches, then a passing lane is available, usually on the ascent of a hill. There are some drivers who go 80Km/hr in a 100 zone for as long as nobody can legally pass them. Then when a passing lane opens up they accelerate, so even at 120 you can't get by them. That drives me crazy.

Post 4# sounds rather dark,

Well I can tell you it is..I felt like my life was in the balance.
It happened some time ago. And it was on a sunny day about 11.00 in the morning. One thing I learnt is trucks can be much faster than I expected.
It didn't feel like a joke either..I was quite shaken after the encounter.

I learnt something that day..

Coming at this from a bike-rider first, car-driver second, it's both angering and scary getting cut off by cars who pass me and then have to slam on their brakes to make their right hand turn, leaving me swerving into the middle of the lane to avoid them.*

Please use those fabulous brakes you have and wait the (maybe) 3-5 seconds that I'm so rudely inconveniencing you...

I acknowledge I'm faster than 99% of the other cyclists out there, so people may be surprised by how close to speed limits I can manage, but it's not like I'm on a beach cruiser either. That said, most cars are driven by largely decent people.

*This may have happened today on my morning ride.

That's definitely one of the all time classics. Years ago I had a woman in a minivan pass me on the left, around a blind right hand corner, going downhill at high speed. The tires were howling so bad I thought she was going to roll the thing.

It's not too bad here on the island. Speed limits are low, drivers are courteous.

But there is a lovely, fast set of curves on the upper road to Waimea that I love to toss the car into. Inevitably when I get there some auntie in a minivan will be going thru them at 30 mph. Sigh.....

I have never driven around Boston on I95 without being brought to a standstill. Never knew whether it was an accident ahead somewhere or just "normal" there. I finally discovered 495.

Unfortunately 495 isn't too good these days either.. Yeah, 95 is horrible, but fortunately I use the usually somewhat less horrible 93 which is nonetheless taxed to the breaking point for about six hours everyday.

My 32 mile commute varies from 45 to 90 minutes each way, usually not bad both ways though in a given day.

🙄The state of Mass. is well known for excellent drivers.
road rage is becoming worse all over I think. ppl have deadlines and other pressures
I was a jury member on a case of road rage that went from spitting, to punches, and then on to gun play here on the local interstate.

People that carefully drive in your blind spot and stay there.
Another vote for this one.

That seems to happen to me fairly often. I'm in the right lane, traveling approx the posted speed limit, with cruise-control engaged. A vehicle overtakes me from behind, pulls to the left lane to pass, and just hangs there - anywhere from totally in my blind spot, to exactly abreast of me. Doesn't complete the pass maneuver, nor drop back to follow.

Just speculating, but I'll guess that he is also running with cruise control and my speed is within the allowable dead-zone of his controller. And, the two vehicles traveling abreast (or nearly so) is aerodynamically more efficient than pulling ahead to complete the pass. (The "drafting" effect exploited by stock car racers.) His controller won't apply enough throttle to increase his speed. If it continues past 20 - 30 seconds (and I don't forget there's a vehicle hiding in my blind spot), I'll just tap the brake pedal to disengage the cruise-control, then RESUME it 5 seconds later.
