I have build a CCS 10m45 12B4 pre amp run at 25ma with 120v , I love the sound but randomly a fire cracker kind of sound comes out from the speaker and it is not the power amp. is that the sound of a noisy tube ?
Thanks for any help. 😕

Hi.
I believe that "noise" is referred to in an electronic component, even resistors, it results in a rushing sound, or "white noise". It is basically a result of electrons randomly banging into each other. I don't know what to make of the firecracker sound, but I would think it must come from either the power supply or the constant current source.
Cheers.

Could it be due to oxidised pins on the tube or the tube socket terminals that accept the tube pins ? Spray a contact cleaner on them ( and maybe wipe them also ) and check again. Any cold solders...reflow all solder joints again.
