What kind of connector is this and how can it be fixed?

Thats an "RCA" plug, male. When you get a new connector, you strip back the outer wire about 2 cm, untangle if braid, and strip the end of the center wire about 1/8". Then you solder the center wire at the end of the tip, and solder the braid or outer wire or second wire to the ring. I use a Weller WP25 iron with a 7/32" screwdriver tip. I use tin-lead solder with rosin core. Wear safety glasses when soldering, solder spashes.
Or you can buy used cables at the charity resale shop for $1. Every DVD play and DTV converter came with three.
If you update your profile to show a continent at least and country, perhaps someone will recommend where they buy their new ones. I use tubesandmore.com in AZ , newark.com in NC, and mouser.com in TX.
