That's for mechanical bracing. There's nothing connected to it as shown,

I think you're right. Anyway the rear one seems to be just a mounting thing, not a ground lead, so I'll just replace it with a common pot.It looks to me like an exact replacement part rather than a generally available type of potentiometer housing.
