I doubt twin lead is foreign to rural areas in Britain Re Yagi antennas, it has some rather nice advantages over coax for long runs. advantages include it's a simple direct match to many types of antennas, inherently balanced, lower loss, and inexpensive. on the other hand its more susceptible to interference and has to supported away from objects that may cause current imbalance. It predates coax in amateur and HAM radio. Coax unbalanced antenna issues can be helped with 1:1 ferrite baluns or chokes. most TV folks don't bother now b/c cable and satellite = coax comes already fitted.

Hi,

Sorry for getting a little shirty. However like I said I've never seen
a UK TV with a twin lead input and I'm way past 40. Perhaps it is
due to scale, NA and Australia are huge compared to the UK, and
your definitions of rural reception probably don't apply to the UK.

Its main use in the UK is the cheap quarterwave antenna for FM reception.

rgds, sreten.
