It might become a tough job to get one's hands on 100 uF PIO or teflon capacitors. It might get an even tougher one to place them beneath the chassis.

You might also get a pinch less distortion with the cap removed, which would allow the then unbypassed cathode resistor to apply a little local feedback to the stage.
never remove bypass cap in phono ....sound should be corect .leben design this phono for best answer ..... so better to save all caps .So, I removed the 100uF 6V electrolytic cap. I much prefer the sound without the cap. Totally subjective, but I like it without. YMMV.
I may purchase a pair of PIO or Teflon caps and give them a try.
