Bonsai, hate to pop your balloon, but it is generally considered that Albert Einstein produced junk Physics in his later years. 😳

It was embarrassing.

I seem to be down to three Maths books now.

Two of which are here:

Both of them have good qualities. Elementary Number Theory is particularly good on tables of Prime Numbers.

A subject I like since I am interested in the Riemann Hypothesis:

I think we'd all love to hear about Albert's later "junk physics". Can you please cite such?

I think the burden of proof is on the claimant, in this case System 7, to prove his later physics was junk.

It may well have been. However, my earlier comments were about GR.

Given the amount of 'junk physics' (per Sabine Hossenfelder et al) around nowadays, I don't think AE has anything to worry about. GR is still the best explanation we have for how the universe works on a cosmic scale, DE and DM notwithstanding.

🙂

Einstein spent much of the latter part of his career trying to develop a "unified field theory" which would bring together both the gravitational field (as described in his general theory of relativity) and the electromagnetic field.

He spent around thirty years searching for this unification, during which he isolated himself from the rest of the physics community which was focused on exploring quantum mechanics.

Einstein failed to find a solution, but did not regret spending so much time on the problem. He said he had already made his name in the world of science and that even a small possibility of finding a unified field theory was worth the time and effort.

Some of Einstein's insights and ideas may still prove true or help to guide future physicists to a solution.

I extracted/edited the above from this easy to assimilate source: https://www.ducksters.com/biography/scientists/albert_einstein/later-life-death.php

Why we avoided Einstein:

You peeps are making me think here!

Consider these two branches of Geometry:

What is the difference?

Simply stated, one is analytic, the other is numerical.

Most Mathematicians can do both, if only to pass Exams.

I am probably more analytic personally.

show us where I've been critical of Einstein as you say.

These quotes suggested criticism of Einstein to my mind at the time and I remember reacting to them.

They form rather flimsy evidence, so I will apologise and withdraw my statement that you have frequently been critical of Einstein's abilities.

"how much of what he (Einstein) presented actually came from him?"

"I believe his (Einstein's) wife was a dedicated collaborator."

Things I know about Albert Einstein:

He didn't wear socks.

Couldn't remember where he lived.

Honestly, the man was a mess! 😳

On the plus side he confused the heck out of us with his Physics.

I think Quantum Theory is right. Even if "God doesn't play Dice." 😀

Not many people know this, but Albert won a Nobel prize, not for Special or General Relativity, but the Photoelectric Efffect:

I look at it a different way as a Chemist:

Hope it helps.

That's it? Socks and where he lived? If that's all I had on my conscience I'd be broadcasting it!

OTOH, I can't respect a man who doesn't wear socks.

However for Albert I'll make an exception. 🙂
