NO! A flippin' magnificent result tonight! 😎

Things weren't looking too promising at 3.30 PM when thunderstorm clouds and rain and thunderclaps arrived.

But I pocketed the Nikon Coolpix camera and a raincoat and hoped for the best. No lights down at Southsea Castle. Flippin' cold though. Managed to turn off the flash in the dark.

Apologise for the lack of quality in these handheld pictures. But I got a break in the clouds. Looked like one star. Could even see it under streetlights at 5.15 PM on my way home. Result! 😀

Lucky you, Steve! :checked:

I have my DSLR, telephoto lens and tripod at the ready in the unlikely case that it ever stops raining.

I haven't been able to see a clear night sky for some time now, so unsure if the planets still appear high enough in the sky at my higher latitude.

Anna Kapinska recently noticed some very weird shapes when browsing through new radio astronomical data.

'WTF? was the name she gave to a ghostly circle of radio emission, hanging out in space like a cosmic smoke-ring.

'WTF?': newly discovered ghostly circles in the sky can't be explained by current theories, and astronomers are excited

These unexpected radio-astronomical objects, have been officially named Odd Radio Circles (ORCs).

These objects do not seem to correspond to any known type of astronomical object and are the latest cosmic mystery

The Arizona livestream has been showing a live telescope view from the Giovale Observatory in which the rings of Saturn are visible. However, that live view is not always on screen.

The attachment shows how the Great Conjunction looked to a photographer in Australia. This is what I would have hoped to capture through my telephoto lens earlier, if not for the continuous cloud cover here in Scotland today.
