I'll try again 🙂
A soccer football and an orange. Move the orange around the static football on the floor - what do you need to do to the orange to make the same spot of the orange face the center of the football at all times as your feet are still but you circle the orange with your hand/arm around the football?
Yes - if you don't twirl the orange, the TDSOTO will face the football 🙂

I don't need an animation to convince me ............
Anyway, from here we see the moon very differently from there.
That is sure.
Yea, I get it now. However my mind does not process that as axial rotation. Relative to the Earth, it's stationary. Here's a proper animation and scientific explanation: YouTube
If you really want to get your head in a spin, look how fast the Earth is spinning compared to the Moon! SVS: The Moon's RotationHowever my mind does not process that as axial rotation.

The MOON IS NOT SPINNING ON IT'S AXIS!
as you can plainly see🙄
If it has an axis, it's rotating. 😁
After all the explanations that have been given by various posters, I can only assume that Discopete is being deliberately obtuse.

There's no axis on the Moon, not even a flag pole.😛If it has an axis, it's rotating. 😁
Yes it is. If not, we would see the backside. 😉
I'm content seeing it the way it is, I am just happy it's not mooning us.
The crater face is enough, the "dark side" is probably not that much better...
Got to show you this incredible image of the dark side of the Moon with Earth in the backgound. It was taken by the Chinese lunar orbiting satellite Longjiang-2 last February. The crater face is enough, the "dark side" is probably not that much better..

According to replies from Galu, the hypothesis that the universe must be expanding is based on a set of formulae. This is reminding me of the period before electromagnetic waves were discovered. Their existence was predicted because an algebraic manipulation of the Lorentz equations resulted into the wave equation (in differential form). The speed of the newly discovered waves could be deduced from the new equation and was actually correct in its prediction.
Maybe, the world of science is in a similar period regarding the universe and its governing laws.
Post Scriptum:
Excuse my fusty and dusty memory. I am trying to recall from 30 years ago, and brain cells, actually get old.

Yes, very similar. The expansion of spacetime was predicted, but we've yet to understand the exact nature of the expansion and its mechanism.Maybe, the world of science is in a similar period regarding the universe and its governing laws.
The existence of Black Holes was also predicted. We have now located and are studying them, but we don't yet fully understand them as our current theories of physics break down in such extreme gravity conditions.

What are those lines? Seem very spread out from a few craters, and going to all sides.
