Doesn't that question hold a contradiction in it self? Dimension implies something one can measure.. so infinite??
You have a point..🙂

I'm afraid it's one of the crucial points... 😉You have a point..🙂

Infinity is a "concept"... which has been mentioned earlier in this thread.
The only thing science is based on is facts... things we can measure or determine by thought.
Sorry for ruining your evening 😉

No problem..its what its all about..🙁
LOL..😛
However do you agree that every time there is another outside you have to eventually have infinity..ie a box within a box etc what's outside the box?
unless the laws of physics don't apply..then all bets are off..

guess I can't think straight after a bottle of wine... so I must be....

Wine...OK I'm getting an Ale..😀
Then we both be on the same planet..

As I see it the only surely infinite entity is the natural numbers 1,2,3,4.....oo
Time: IF one could imagine a logical time tick counter it could be eternal and therefore be updated forever. As it is logical entety it would also survive any happening in universe thus being able to count time through a big-bang or big-crunch. But nothing physical can survive a big bang. Its the ultimate and fundamental physical reset of the universe.
Mass: Finite as if not, a big bang can not happen.
The physical finite universe (PU) is expanding into the null.room. The null-room (NR) is a mass less, infinite space with temperature 0K and as a concequence 0 mass (energy). How far the physical universe invades the null-room, converts the NR into PU, depends on the PU mass.
Size/distance: The NR :infinite in distance and (logical) time, the PU: finite (see mass)
OK . so I think the PU is recreating itself via big-bangs and bi-crunches 🙂 - has and will be going for ever. Infinitely.

Is infinite (infinity) a quantitative value, ie a measurement?
Infinity seems to be an immeasurable concept..ie impossible to measure. impossible to quantify.
In simple terms there is no place to put the start of the tape measure..and no place to put the end.

No scientist acknowledged the fact that "expansion" might be a relative phenomenon yet...
As I wrote earlier, the expansion might also be an imaginary spin-off of lightspeed.
It's a great planet... no matter if the universe expands or not...
I'll drink to that!
As I'm consuming Mozart, Amarone and Gryere 🙂

What is a concept if not something we determine by thought?
An infinite tape measure is required to measure the infinity.
Start and end are invalid concepts in the context of infinity.

Infinity is for me the mind boggler non plus ultra. Measurement is non logical. I can accept that "something" + something" is 2something so without really understanding it the infinity math seem ok. But as a sole entity it's something I don't want to think about to long...

The problem with infinity:
BBC iPlayer - Horizon - 2009-2010: 12. To Infinity and Beyond
Daily motion link:

The above is a recap..
The problem with infinity is very interesting...the idea that you can only arrange the particles of matter so many ways like the octaves of music so how long before they repeat and you have an identical earth in an identical solar system.. but with infinity that's not the end because its infinite so there should be infinite earths etc....everything that can be will be infinite an number of times..including us<<and every animal insect and bird etc but that's not the end..
Everything that can be will be for ever and ever..over and over or everything stops and another something is infinite..like the Russian dolls when you reach the last one..the last something should be infinite..or there would be another Russian doll but yet again the last something would be infinite..

You have to stop for a while and let the ideas settle or you feel like you could go nuts..then you can progress further until the limit is reached again..then you rest for a while etc..the problem is the mind always tries to put limits on every infinity you try to imagine..I think its a way that the mind tries to protect itself by doing this..I tend to visualise infinity as fog that goes on for ever and ever and ever..
Infinity seems to me to hold hope and dread...hope for ever..and dread the infinite nothing..

Like it! 🙂
Need to read som philosophy... any literature recommendation anyone?

I've found these good brain rpm risers:
Illusions- The adventures of a reluctant messiah, Richard Bachman
The Holographic Universe , Michael Talbot
Still Life With Woodpecker, Tom Robbins
The Social Contract, Jean-Jacques Rousseau
The last two aren't cosmically inclined, but I do believe they force one to stretch and flex their minds , which I believe to to be good all around.
