Is there a worse way to win or lose a game than a shootout?
Well, perhaps if they had to forfeit due to a plane crash.
In my mind, I am the #1 anti-shootout agent in sports. There is no sport that benefits from this, only the business side. Once again the business side wins, sigh. Too bad, I was looking forward to more play. Let them go till there is a winner. Isn't that the natural way?

There was an incredible match tonight, two masters chess players confronted in a parallel power full of talents in both sides.
I hear the comments of the players, specially the Netherlanders and they said that was like chess with infinite choices to take. Big effort and I take out my hat to this incredible team that represent a big and mature people.
Sadly they lost and once more time somebody took the dream of the Mechanic orange. Just this group that became the better selection of players from this amazing country.

Look at the stats; that was about as even a match as you could see. Decided on a coin toss. Well done Argentina; I am sad for the team I supported.

If they really had shootouts, soccer would be an infinitely more interesting thing (I won't call it a "sport"). There would actually be a good reason for the guy to fall down.
I get your point, but I think Neymar provided a convincing counterpoint. That is, I think we can agree that a fractured vertebra is a legitimate reason to fall down.

I prefer "Rub some dirt on it". In most North American sports that is the response to an "injury". The last thing you do is let your opponent see that you are hurt.
