Either the explanation is flawed (more likely) or the experiment is flawed.

If one photon is delayed IN the mask, and returned to normal speed after exiting, it would arrive at the target delayed by effect of the mask slowing it down during it's transition through the mask.

It would be necessary to measure both photons at two points of equal distance after the mask to determine if both were going the same speed. The photon which went through the mask would arrive at the first test point behind the non-masked photon. It would arrive at the second test point with a different and greater delay than when it arrived at the first test point in order to confirm that it were still going slower.

This is not what was described in the article.

I've seen a setup using prisms and a slightly longer path delay for one of the light beams to generate interference patterns arising out of the delay between the two beams. This is old hat.

I would be amazed if the experimenters had made the error you are suggesting.

We shall have to wait ans see what the response is.

I am leaning towards these kind of ideas..everything could just be waves..in what? is the next question..🙂
OK we already know everything is probably just energy..

Could the universe just be an interference pattern? It seems to explain the double slit experiment quite well..
Ie if the input particle is actually a wave not a one point particle it will go though both slits at the same time and interfere with itself..

A strange question..predict your next thought..or what will be your next thought...this is difficult to understand. Until you think about it! (what am I going to think next?)<<self prediction.

NB even if its an interference pattern where is the pattern happening?

Its all quite strange..😕

A few stupid thoughts...

If the universe is an interference pattern or some kind of hologram where could the source be..😀

It still poses the question..even if its infinite where is the infinity.

More stupid thoughts...if something entered the "source" of the reflection would it just appear..a bit like the flat landers and the 3rd dimension.
(oh look another particle has just appeared).

I guess we have no control over the process....hummm..

The question..what is reality?<<it would seem there might be an answer the question might not exist!😀..

And I haven't been drinking..🙂..It sounds like some kind of surreal madness. or perhaps just spooky.

I can accept a universe that is waves or an interference pattern or hologram..however it leaves a strange feeling about reality.

It makes me think about the Buddhist monk that told me everything is nothing and nothing is everything.
Reality or truth would seem to be beyond life..(could life be an illusion?)

Back to the universe...

😀..I must admit that I tried just thinking about this and it has an effect (not very pleasant)..so I have to sort of allow a realisation to take place..

The problem then is I have to stop for a while..have a few beers and step back to this world..😀

I get the impression you can't just think about this a realisation has to take place..let the dust settle and reappraise.

I have found this before with another subject..what does it mean to comprehend something..(limited by illusion)..😀

I experienced no problem with that this afternoon. Had several beers, played some pool and had a good chat with a valued (girl-)friend of mine...
