Yes, it seems people in the USA have some strange ideas:

As it goes, I don't totally dismiss the notion of The Abominable Snowman aka Bigfoot. It was in my exciting Tintin comic:

But GHOSTS! And all that Childish 31st. October HALLOWEEN nonsense. REALLY? 🙄

There's a very strong anti education and anti science sentiment in the US, especially against universities. Profoundly ignorant people (that's about 40% of my countrymen and growing) think that universities teach 100% lies and produce brainwashed robots. And there's a strong narrative that you have to choose between science and God. This narrative is strongly promoted by big big big money.

It's quite distressing. If I were 20 something I would be out of this looney bin.

Some observations and more accurate interpretations than the "curvature" of "space-time", the "bending" of "concepts" like "home", "yesterday", "everywhere", "always", "school system" and so on;-)

Science deniers have been strongly promoting that the "Big Bang" never happened and that the universe is erternal. The source of this claim is religious apologists that require the BB (and demonstrable science like evolution) be eliminated from academia, because science stands in the way of the theocracy they're trying to usher in. There's a whole slew of academics that have prostituted themselves to this agenda (see for example Dr. Jason Lisle who has some very " interesting" pseudoscientific theories). https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Jason_Lisle The woo cuts real deep when you have bona fide PhDs cranking it out.

I couldn't find anything about Dowdye except youtube videos. Take it for what it's worth.

Which "science deniers" are you referring to? It might be useful to be specific. Do you mean those who deny any science at all who would be the kooks, not worthy of too much attention except for entertainment. Then there are those who deny Darwinian evolution with rational explanations. Then you have the right wing fanatics with an agenda.

I already referenced one, with a link.

How about Andrew Snelling? Ken Ham? I find it hard to believe you argue against science denial but don't know about these infamous hucksters.

And these people are winning in the US. They are 100% worthy of our attention. We can't let them run amok and rewrite textbooks, because that is what is happening here.

Science is first and foremost discourse. The discourse about methods. Methods of observation, description, interpretation. Only then come the statements about "something", "scientific knowledge", "truths".

It seems you are practicing science denial;-)

The flood gates are open, the torrent unleashed. 'Viral' pandemics are the least of our worries. Not sure Al Gore would claim invention at this point.

It's the Wild West out there right now. It's only going to get worse.

Head for the hills!

Of course. Everything is subject to revision. But it has to comport with reality. Science in the US has been essentially usurped by liars to promote an extreme agenda. People go on about "Darwin this" and "Darwin that." Darwin died 150 years ago! Address science not historical figures.

I don't see people disparaging Newton because gravity stands in the way of their agenda. Just like evolution, we know more about gravity and Newtonian physics than Newton ever did.
