The boiling point of water depends on the pressure of the surounding air, and is 100 degrees celcius at normal atmospheric pressure.
At a reduced air pressure the water will boil at room temperature and begin to transform into invisible water vapour (water in gaseous form).
However, as the water vaporises it absorbs its latent heat of vaporisation from the remaining water. If there is only a little water involved, the cooling effect is dramatic and the remaining water freezes.
I believe this is the principle behind the 'freeze-drying' of fresh food.

That's new to me so I investigated to find that, since emoticons are not used in formal writing, how they are punctuated is really just a matter of style choice.
Sometimes an emoticon can represent a terminal punctuation, like when it is used as an exclamation mark. For example, TNT believes in the Big Crunch 😱
When an emoticon is extraneous to the meaning of the sentence and can stand on its own, I would suggest ending the sentence properly with a period. For example, TNT makes a good point. 😎
