I have a hollow plastic TT base that seems to pick up and transmit noise.
What can be used inside the base, to minimize feedback. I was thinking about building a 3/4" wood box snugly around the outside of the thin plastic body of the turntable. Any ideas would be great.

Mass Loaded Vinyl like
https://acousticalsolutions.com/product/audioseal-sound-barrier/ is easy to cut and glue, its cheap enough to experiment with. If you can find a car audio installer they might even give some offcuts?
You didn't say what the turntable was, but most plastic Japanese turntable have a thin Masonite (hdf?) bottom cover that could do with damping

If it's mass loading and deadening like you might use in your car to stop the panels drumming/flexing....
Dynamat or dynamat extreme or aluminium/bitumen flashing tape. All are self adhesive.

I have heard that Dynamat melts over time, it sure looks like the right stuff. I am also replacing the Masonite plate with wood. Thank you for all of your ideas. The TT is a Sony PS-LX5 and other than the fact that I can't get a spare headshell for less than $80 it works very nicely for me.
Decades ago when I had a plastic direct drive Yamaha TT I loaded the base with plastacine (could use Bluetack but expensive.) This made a massive difference to the feedback and improved the sound quality.
