I have seen a few sites with pictures of completed speakers, and a handful of them have used a driver that was called the "69 cent wonder". Does anyone know any background or information on this speaker and where it comes from?
A speaker PE got and sold at 69 cents.Over a year ago now.

The 50c wonder maybe ?
On the Fullrange driver website there is a famous tweak that is applied to whizzered drivers that is called the 50c wonder. It involves applying a very small ring of feather light foam to the gap between the main cone and the edge of the whizzer. It serves to stop the same frequencies coming from both the whizzer and the main cone and interacting. It also helps to stop the free edge of the whizzer from resonating uncontrollably. It can help a lot in taming the shrillness that plagues whizzered drivers.
This is probably not what your refering to, but maybe it is.
