Hello all,
i'm working on my F5M an i have to think after....
the F5M will drive my pair MOAP 10.2. actually i have a computer with a soundcard behringer as dac but it's not friendly for the user. (my wife and there is not remote control)
i have to think to preamp/DAC/streamer, i was thinking to buy a Wiim ultra to make this
but my goal is to have emotional engagement from my system, what do you think of this
average all the music is digital CD or demateralised i use average no phono
i listen most of the time pop rock, alternative, piano, and electronic music
what do you do if you were me?

I use a Whammy (as a preamp) to feed my F5m and it sounds great. I have a Chord DAC and Rega phono stage as inputs to the Whammy. I also have a WiiM amp which is used mainly for TV sound and casual listening, which it does very well. I'm sure a WiiM Ultra would work fine for you using its digital inputs, and the WiiM app is one of the best in class.

There very best preamp you can afford. Ideally one with independent power supplies for each channel. The F5m can be tuned to be most revealing.
This. I dug my Iron Pre SE out last weekend. Listening to some jazz on CDs tonight and man, those Cinemags do something special to horns and vibraphone. Cleaner, less harsh. The sibilance I heard before was coming from somewhere else *cough*crossover*cough.Iron Pre SE
for Logic800 whammy looks gto be headphone preamplifier
Iron Pre SE is actually sold out...
due to the price of a preamp i'm intrested to not change if i change amp in the future

at the begining of my f5m build some people advise me to build korg.

The Korg is going to impart it's own character to the sound as it is a tube amp. Mine with upgrades sounds really great. The Iron Pre if it is like people say (very clean detailed etc) then I would think that would be the more universal amp.
