What happened since the great old days?

Hi All,
First post in this realm!

My David Bowie favourite - Let's dance & Chinagirl(was it Chinese Girl?)

MTV destroyed everything, was looking forward to enjoying it in India. But when it finally came(early 90's), sure kept me away from TV Music.

Rock & Metal for me anytime; Blues, Reggae is enjoyable; where to find 'em nowadays....
I was thinking that in my part of the world the Music Shops were stocking the wrong stuff. But the last three times I went to U.K proved that all music shops were the same(at least those I visited). They call pathetic wailers singers.
Bring back the good old days!!!

BTW, watching some recent live music videos of Rock & H.Metal I get to see only people of my age and older. SIGH

The times they are A changing blah blah blah...

Very moving track by Velvet Undergroeund, 'Candy Says'. All about Candy Darling, took boob bigger pllls under the the advice of St. Andy Worhol but death was still the only option.

All a big con trick I suppose. At the age of 17 I could walk out of one job and into another by virtue of being a male honky. A few decades later I'm supposed to complain about women managers sacking me. Me with a mortgage and a precarious pension to worry about as well,,. Actually I don't. Fairs fair. End of.

So, there's me. Part of the baby boomers and truth be told, I've always got the upper hand, Always in the majority, always the one with more to say...

Lots and lots of immigrants brought into this country for no other reason than to wash my **** because I can't do it for myself any more. Yeah babyboomers rock!

You can reguritate the rhetoric all you want but when push comes to shove...the mob rules...

There are more of us, that's why we always win...

too funny..this thread is. Why? because you could transfer the complaints to any interest group (cars for one..American musclecars were the best, bla bla ..yah right) 🙄 🙂

I find it hard to believe that with all the music being released that you can't find those gems amongst the garbage. Myself, I mainly listen to metal, be it death/black/goth/power/whatever, but I always seem to find something of interest in the tons of new releases/bands.

I think the trick is to stay away from any commercial website/TV channel/radio station. Broaden your horizons and use the tools available to you to seek out those gems and not dream about the "good ol days"...they never existed... :devilr:

Most unusual artist in my collection: Dadawa (chinese/tibetan)

Im a little dissapointed that outkast is on that list, as they are by far the most musical rappers in the industry. I like their stuff and think they have more style than the vast majority of artists out there now, especially andre; not so much big boi.

Anyways, I dont agree that music has gotten worse, only that there is a huge selection and many people dont care enough to look for the good stuff so the artists that are the most set on making money tend to do well, with some definate exceptions.

To name some current artists that I like:

White Stripes: Some here may not like them because they arent using the newest hi-fi recording equipment but I think they make some damn good music.

Outkast: They have done a good job coming up with their own sound, even if some of it is trash, there is some great stuff in there.

Weezer: Only in dreams: enough said

Dave Matthews is popular enough to make one sick, but you cant deny that he throws a sick concert.

Sigur Ros: Not a big electronic fan as most of it sounds cluttered to me, but this music can control my mood so much its creepy.

I also like beck, and think that, like outkast, there are hits and misses.

Last and definately not least: Radiohead. Probably my favorite band.

There are lots others, just gotta filter out the artists who are just in it for the money.
