What drivers are these?

I bought couple weeks ago these cheap drivers.
I am planning those for computer speakers but I don't TS parameter for those.
I know that I can measure those parameters but if somebody knows something about those direvers, I will be very grateful.

Dia is 10cm = 4 inch.

Any speaker box ideas for those?

I have some ideas, but I haven't decided yet:
- maybe I build boxes using wood layers
- or somekind horn
- or something unprecedented

Can this kind front panel cause some bad reflections or resonances?
I know these "horns" (or how those should be called) are used for tweeters but is there any disadvantages if I use that for midranges too because those drivers which I will use are "biconical" speakers.

They appear to be 'standard' taiwanese drivers, I've come
across several versions in my hifi fixing capacity.

A baffle may be easy but will have no bass
- you need a high Q driver for this.

In my experience Q is pretty low and needs to be raised by
sealed box loading. I'd say 10 litres is far too high a box volume.
They usually work well with 3 to 4 litres.
You could try 5 to 7 litres reflexed to 50Hz - but it is a bit hit
and miss.

A simple way of sheilding us to glue (use contact adhesive)
tin-plate panels to the interior walls of the enclosure.

If the depth of the cutout is ~ 1cm or less I can't see it would
cause any problems.

It just so happens I was looking at some Visaton FR drivers, which are very cheap. They look JUST like this. I started to think 1 or 6 of them in an open baffle might let me hear the virtues of the open baffle approach, which I am becoming curious about. Would the Visatons be like these (low Q)? There are no TS specs on the (www.cpc.co.uk) website 🙁

Like I said fairly standard Taiwanese drivers.

So if you start looking you'll find the chassis and magnet everywhere.

Low power rating (5W) and full range twin cone both suggest
a lightweight short voice coil - which suggests lowish Q.

JMO but the 'benefits' of open baffles are extremely
unlikely to be realised by a number of low cost drivers.

So that's a confirmation of what he said then?

Are you saying outright that there is no economical way to experience these oft-claimed 'magic' properties of OBs? Or just that full-range drivers costing £8 each are likely to be crap? What made me think about this was one or two others claiming great results from cheapo drivers in open baffles...that and discovering the cheapness of CPC!!

And what would these be like in a small sealed box for cheap pc speakers? Surely ideal right? With some kind of cheap-a$$ amp...

Daline? It seems like a daline would be a good option, if we could get the theory right. I know myself and some experts examined the theory of dalines a long time ago in another thread, but I don't think we ever reached anything conclusive on how the theory is supposed to work. That is a bit bothersome for me because I would like to do dalines in some of my own designs but becasue there is so little information out there, I can't.

:soapbox: How is it that all these speaker engineers come up with such cool designs and then we can never figure out the specifics? Surely, there should be some sort of publication out there! It's a bit frustrating at times. :headbash: :crazy: :headbash: I mean, we were able to figure out the Wave Cannon, weren't we? :boggled:
 
Thanks to everyone from piece of information.

I guess 1st thing is that I try measure those TS parameters and then do some calculations.
I have allready some kind plan to use sealed box.



ps. douh... my Crescendo amplifier is still incomplete 😉
 
I did some measurements, but those would not help me because fs and Qts are so high. Well I think <5 litres is good enough for these computer speakers.
