I was wondering if people think that this LCD could work for a projection tv.

If its for a laptop, you will need a controller
Plus its only 100:1 contrast ratio and 640x480 res, that isn't very good.

I have a pci controller for this screen, but I haven't bought the screen yet.
I just thought that if I could get the screen cheap it would be worth it for a projection tv.

I've seen these screens go for VERY cheap...so if you find one for CHEAP I'd say go for it. Since you allready have the controller. The last one I saw went for $12.00 US.
They are dead easy to take the backlight off of from the picture I saw (identical in construction to my LCD's).
It seems that "Sharp" panels of the TTL flavour are one of the easiest panels to use (many of them have no controller boards in the way).
If you don't go crazy with your light source you should have at least a watchable image at night (with poor contrast I'd avoid "washing" the image out with too much light).
If nothing else you can use the LCD and card as a second monitor for your system (build a "cabinet" for it and backlight it with something low tech).
