I replaced the laser on an Onkyo DX-1800 CD player. It now recognizes and plays the disc, however, when the disc spins it makes a scratching sound (plastic on plastic. Clearly when I put it back together I messed something up, but looking at the manual, I'm not sure what it is I did. Any suggestions? Thanks.

First off, thanks for the reply. I actually figured it out. I didn't pay attention to the four coil springs on the plate that supports the puck up. I had assumed they were identical, but after looking at the part numbers in the manual I saw they were actually two different pairs. Once I matched the right pairs to the right sides the scraping went away. Works fine now.

Good news nice " simple " fix . On a separate note i've just converted to Onkyo for cd playback myself purchasing a 7030 ( new ) about a month ago. First Onkyo product i've ever owned and i'm impressed
certainly as good as anything i have heard in the sub GBP 500 bracket , if your 1800 ever dies beyond repair worth a look .
