You should try vanilla extract--" honest, officer, I was baking, I swear "Methyl hydrate and diesel. 🙂
Happy 2014 !
Well, it's been a long night. Started with an Old Speckled Hen, followed by a Rolling Rock to keep things light, then some nice NZ white with the lobsters, a little dark rum (Old Sam) in the coffee, a little more Old Sam with water to cool things down, champers at midnight, another Old Speckled Hen and finally a nice Havana Club Anejo (7 yrs old) on ice for a nightcap. Happy New Year!

I like to keep my gin in the freezer and the vermouth and olives in the fridge so it doesn't require ice, stirring or straining. 🙂
I know it's almost sacrilege but I often 'accidentally' splash a wee of the olive juice in there too rather than the lemon. My Father has a fit when he sees me do that and I did it to him one time and he said he enjoyed it. He asked what I had done just as he realized and now he won't talk Martinis with me anymore. 😀
Cheers.

I just ran into this thread.
I don't seem to have a glass in hand. Thanks for the reminder.

Sounds good Cal,
Yes, all is kept in the fridge---just a habit adding some ice and straining.
It's quite alright if a little olive jar brine gets in. After a few can't tell anyways.
Cheers,
Terry

I'm trying Schwarzriesling
Started with some tea. Now I'm half way through a bottle of some special German wine "Schwarzriesling" (Pinot Meunier). I won't buy it again... It's not bad but not my kind of red wine. Any way I won't throw away ;-)
