I would like to generate a sounds collection for people without oscilloscope. What are the most common and helpful testing signals?
I know that the ‘shapes’ are sine, triangle/saw-tooth, square and perhaps inverse line.
But what frequencies? 10hz, 1 kHz, 10kHz and 20kHz?
It should be mono only, or stereo?

A little pointless with no oscilloscope.
Both 10hz ans 20khz cannot be heard!
440hz is middle C on a piano and can be useful for wow and flutter in tape machines.
Philips test tapes have a 3.15khz sine wave for speed checking.

There is an app for that. Several apps for the iPhone and iPad have good signal generators.
The only kind of signal that will be useful without an oscilloscope is a sine wave. Sine wave amplitudes can be measured with a simple multi-meter to check signal path integrity and amount of gain.

Scopes can be very cheap, even free on your phone. However, your phone may not be as good as the DUT.
