Hi guys,
I'm building a boombox. I've got these car coaxial speakers:

I've bought a Lepai 2020A+ which is rated about 2x20W at 4 ohms. It drives the speakers pretty decent, but on high volume (with the bass knob turned all the way up) the bass gets distorted very easily. The good side is that battery life (7 aH, 12V) is 20+ hours at medium volume.
So I wonder if a TK2050 amplifier will do a better job for these speakers. As far as I know it can be powered by the same 7 aH, 12V battery. But what do you think - how much faster will it drain. And one more thing - what power supply I will need to run the amp at home. What about something like this one:
96W Universal Laptop Power Supply 110 220V AC to DC 12V 16V 20V 24V Adapter | eBay
If you know any better amplifier alternatives for these 6.5" speakers, feel free to suggest them!

Check out the Texas Instruments TPA3116. There are countless circuit boards built around this chip. There's a huge ongoing thread about it here in the class d sub-forum.
For what it's worth, I found the tpa3116 to be noticeably better than a tk2050.
The 3116 will run fine on 12 volts.
