Hi,
has anyone got any recollections of these speakers or know the whereabouts of any reviews about them. I have searched on-line but very little is coming up about them.
I found a pair at my local re-cycling centre with faded and scratched veneer and tatty grills, but they work perfectly and sound great. I'll re-finish the veneer and replace the grill fabric and generally tidy them up. Maybe sell them on after I have enjoyed listening for awhile.
A very good find I reckon.
Cheers

TSR
The TSR range seems to have been forgotten about -I have also searched in vain in the past. My dad has a pair of them but I think they are the 203.2 - each having two 5inch plastic cones either side of a hard dome tweeter in a narrow sealed cabinet about 14ins tall. Quite low sens, about 83db/W stated on back. Smooth, very civilised sound, not a lot of bass. Are yours anything like that?

Hi Ian J,
as yet I have only fired them up in my basement which is small and therefore impossible to make any real judgements about, however the bass seems to go very low and my first immediate thought was "wow". I'm looking forward to getting them up into my lounge and trying them out there.
I did try a Google search but very little came up even after I went through quite a number of pages. Usually one discovers an old review or such like but as yet I have found nothing of any great interest.
The 108.2 has a tweeter above a 6.5 inch mid-bass and with a port below the
mid-bass and they are mounted on a sloping baffle to time align the drivers. There is an information plaque on the back giving the technical details which are as follows: 88 db/watt, 30 litre box volume, -3 db @ 45-25 kHz, 8 ohms impedance, 100 watts power handling, and the crossover is a 2 x 12 db 7 element at 3.5 kHz. Lastly, there is an "L" pad dial to adjust the tweeter volume on the front baffle.
I'll keep my eyes open on eBay now to see if they come up.
Cheers

Correction
A bit of googling shows the model my dad has is the 102.2 - quite different to yours. Good luck with the restoration!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Hi,
The bass unit looks like an 8" to me, fits in with 30L
box, internal volume. YMMV but lining the ports with
a folded piece of porous foam about 3/8" thick and
3xdia x port depth shape should help the bass, it
looks a little large to me for the best tuning.

FWIW I recall Wharfedale bullt some tweeters well
recessed into a cavity for time delay, the effects
of the cavity generally didn't go down too well
in measurements I seem to recall.
Sister company at the time, Leak, used stepped baffles.
They were well expensive for what they were at the time
and were up against some classic 8"/1" vented two ways.
rgds, sreten.
Time delay was a passing fad.

Hi sreten,
you are right about the bass driver, the measurement I took was of the cones actual size! I would agree about maybe experimenting with the port; nothing to lose. It might also be an idea to re-new the caps in the crossover just to make sure, and apply some contact cleaner to the "L" pad control pot.
I wonder what sort of re-sale value they would have?

Hi,
I wouldn't expect resale value to be good, (i.e.
high), but what do I know ? Ebay is a fickle thing.
Replace bi-polars in the x/o if you want with new.

Since the last post on this thread I have been looking for any of the TSR range of speakers on eBay but have not seen any so far. They must be quite thin on the ground or too good to part with....!? I suspect the former. Strange really as examples of the "E" series appear regularly on eBay and they pre-date the TSR series.
Might have to put them on eBay when I've finished doing them up a bit! See how much they fetch.

This speaker was a distinct change of tack from the likeable and efficient paper driver E series. 🙂
It's actually a polymer (plastic) bass unit!
Rather good archive on Wharfedale here: * Michael Otto's Archiv * - Lautsprecher
I don't think there is much serious effort to time align it, more of a styling exercise IMO. But ought to be rather good of its type. What you do with it exactly depends on the crossover details, but you could try some other tweeters. A SEAS 22TAF/G metal dome might work rather well in Harbeth style.
