Very nice. That's the old Dynaco A25 woofer, isn't it? 😀The 12" woofer reads 6.2 Ω DC Res, but the whole speaker reads 12.3 Ω Res.
Something is really stuck in the switches!
Believe it or not, I paid 4 (four) euros in a 2nd-hand shop for a very well build (diy) speakers including the incredible CA25RE4 in it. 🙂
I'm using them most of the time. The x-over has those metallic blue bipolar Philips caps. Don't know if the speakers were assembled more than 20 years ago. They look in good condition.
Nice 2-way speakers! I think I saw them before! 🙂
Runs full range if you want.
It also helps that it's a shallow chassis when lining up phase. The DeVore Orangutan is similar. I'd like to see a photo.
The trick seems to be to use Visaton's Boxsim to do the design with something similar, then just tweak it around a bit for the slightly different drivers:

That's great! I'll install it to see what I can get now that I have access to a modern woodworking shop not far from I live! 🙂
Yes! That's a Dynaco A25! 🙂
For a quick start in Boxsim, you can just import some existing projects into the "Projekte" folder. Then play with them. I think you usually need to uncheck the "Common Outer Housing" option to adjust cabinets.
TBH, some of the Visaton designs are a bit rubbish, but you can fix that: Boxsim Projektdatenbank Experience V20
Boxsim has an optimise button that works on crossover components you check as optimize in red. It's rather brilliant.

Here it is.... 😀
Box sealed, and I think it is something like 40L.
The tweeter is not a great piece, but it does a good job. All resemble those for Magnat speakers.
The mid could be better, but it has the front panel cut for it. And the woofer is wonderful... 🙂

That looks a well executed design, Karl. Especially for 4 euros! 😎
You'll fine three ways are quite easy in Boxsim if you start with a vaguely correct sort of design: SEAS Kit 503
Get the bass and treble slopes vaguely right, then let the optimizer have 4 midrange elements marked in red to play with plus some attenuation, and it'll do a pretty good job of filling the hole in the midrange. If it struggles, you might need to flip some phase on drivers.
Somehow they all end up looking like this:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Hi Karl,
You don't have the dead dovedale tweeters anymore?!?!
Three years later.....
I have the problem that the on my both dovedales the plastic surround is broken by transport.
Thanks Gregor
