hi..i am gonna make a loudspeaker with old westra speakers..they are made in germany and nowadays there are many made in china and low end speakers selling in my country..i am happy i find them.i am trying many speakers nowadays.but i couldnt calculate the cabinet diameters with programmes for westra kw200-1316 ..there is -717 liters the result of programme..do you think this parameters are true ?
Belatbarkeit: 70 W-RMS / 120 W-Max
Impedanz: 6 Ohm
Schalldruck: 86 dB
Freuqenzbereich: 30-2000 Hz
Resonanzfrequenz fs: 30 Hz
Gesamtgüte Qts: 0,74
Äquivalentvolumen Vas: 69 l
Einbaumaße:
Außenmaße BxH: 202x202 mm / ø 200 mm
Einbaudurchmesser: 185 mm
Einbautiefe (incl. Korb): 90 mm
Korbrandhöhe: 8,0 mm (incl. Gummiauflage)
Gewicht: 1,1 kg
does anyone have a ready to make box for my westra speakers?..thanks .danke schön 🙂

ok, no problem, I haven't seen them quite a long time.
Regarding the woofer, I would try a closed box, maybe 40l

but its silk dome and sounds very good 🙂 anyone has an idea about the box? maybe i will try closed box.but i am not sure about volume
the Qts looks quite high in value and so you can't use the typical recommended closed or reflexed box alignments for this woofer.
40l seems a good compromise to me. If you have access to cheap chipboard, why not build a test enclosure first?

i am now using 19liters plastic box 🙂 it sounds good now.but its night here now.i will try later thanks 🙂
its closed box..the resonance frq is 30hz for this speaker so closed box is more reliable i think
Hi,
Other than a complicated and very big TL you need a stuffed
sealed box. Stuffing will add up to 40% extra effective box
volume. An aperoidic port is also a possible option.
(Or posssibly a big open baffle + some bass EQ)
with Vas = 70L, 50L to 100L is a sensible range.
🙂/sreten.

hi..i made some experiments with my system..and i see that the resonance frequency is 70hz..i used sound card signal generator..when the frequency is reaced to 70hz everything started to shake 🙂 here is the old datasheet for frequency response of the speaker..can we estimate the reliable volume box by using these parameters and graphics.i am using 19liters of water plastic box for trying..and i think i will make 24 liters of sealed box.is it not reliable?i am sorry that i am newbie of designing speaker boxes..and i dont want such a big 50 liters box.can i make a smaller one?.thanks..

ok i will do what you say 🙂 you say me to put some stuff to increase the effective volume ha? i will do it..is it good to fully put it ? i can make 40 liters of box and put much stuff into it..
umut1001 said:hey there..can any expert help me ?the volume of the box always negative!! :S
It is giving a negative box volume (Vb) because you have chosen a Qtc < Qts and since Qtc = Qts will calculate a ~infinite Vb you must increase Qtc to 0.741 or higher for it to work properly.
Note too that you must input a reasonably accurate piston diameter and Xmax for it to ~accurately calculate its linear power handling, so measure across ~1/3 of its surround if none of its specs gives it.

don't stuff to much, otherwise you may stuff the life out if it. 😉umut1001 said:put much stuff into it..
The stuffing allows you to play with the sound. If it gets too boomy, you may add more stuffing.
Or you may reduce the stuffing and get a little bit more bass and 'life' from the box.

Careful! Stuffing to increase apparent Vb is a 'double edged sword', too much and you reduce it:

40 L is a ~1.6 Qtc 'boombox' alignment, so even stuffed to the limit it will still be unacceptably high by most folk's standards, so if it needs to be this small, then the suggested aperiodic (some stuffing plus damped vent) is preferred.

yes right..i learn the parameters today 🙂 40L is little..what is your idea about this box? how many liters do you prefer ? thanks
