Well this is different!

Functional, organized, aesthetically appealing, consistent, pages' sections clearly defined
is how this forum used to be...

I was gone for a bit, and I've returned to the opposite! Well, there's still consistency.

Anyway, whatever junk this is looks bubbly and has no dividing lines. While browsing the experience is not enjoyable. In fact, it's frustrating. I find myself being put into an angry mood, and I'm normally a pretty happy person - it takes a lot.

I want diyAudio to stay! Functional and organized and fun.

I don't want diyaudio to become useless!!!

Why change the forum so drastically? Sure there are more mobile devices around now, but aren't most people who type a lot doing so (at minimum) on a device with a keyboard? The thing now organizing all our good content, should go back to whence it came 🔲

Resistance to change - it's a funny thing. I have it, and it gets worse when you grow older. I don't like change in my living environment and I don't like change at work. However, when it comes to diy audio as a hobby - it's the opposite. I love building new stuff and forever changing things to try and improve the sound of my system.

No point in bashing the new diyAudio forum. Everything is still here. Even all the faithful members and all their posts are still here. It took me a while to find your way around. But now I am comfortable and have forgotten what the old format even looked like. Time to move on, or die.

Thank you Jason and team - you are doing an amazing job, for an amazing group of fanatics.

I had the same feelings and they still haven't completely gotten over me.
The forum has become from a well-organized and pleasant to read and search in it to just a bunch of discarded tips that go nowhere.
But it seems that this is the direction in which the world is heading. We are heading towards the situation in this movie.
Mobile devices are not a reason because on many forums you can choose to use a simplified version for smartphones.

I'd second that. The new layout took a little getting used to, but it's a massive improvement over the old one.

The transition was pretty smooth and those that wanted to had the opportunity to look at what was being developed.

Feedback, bug reports are listened to.

All in all, a really professional effort.

Sure, there's more to do, but that's software 🙂

I was invited to tell my opinions on the new forum appearance before its beta version was launched and while I'm not an expert on testing sites my simple demands and others on the looks of it were adressed well and you can't even imagine how bad the site fonts and aspect could have been 🙂
It's different, I know I would have liked to have the site look like the old one, but I'm not the only one on this planet ...
What I really appreciate now is that I can upload a huge amount of images and I can send links to friends on different forums without having to ask them to make an account on diyaudio to see pictures or usual content.
It doesn't take very long to get acoustomed to the new format...anyway most people tend to enter a few forums of interest and never attend the others while you always get to see all new topics in the first page. There's a bit of posting latency and some automated translation mishaps from time to time, but that's a side effect of having a wider platform.
Just browse a bit into all the icons you see on the screen and get used with it!
If you miss the old format I invite you on a forum where you can adress a few issues that are less discussed and considered illegal now here on the grounds of being too dangerous for general public.

For those who came back after a while the formating options found in your personal menu might help a bit.I'm not happy with the definition of extra large font appearance...actually thicker fonts were desired for me, but this was a choice out of multiple ones...
As for how the forums are organized... It is what it is:

Based on the number of threads you posted, your contribution is zero. Is this really your first and only post?
It might be that the man didn't have the patience to recover his account after forgetting his password...and patience is your best friend if you want to face novelties...
Dinosaurs died long time ago...so long ago that after 200 million years it took another 100 000 years to a counscious ape to realize that the world is just 7000 years old ...

With regards to people who make there first post, I have seen lately lots of zombie accounts registered even several years ago and only recently making a their first post, some have even managed to post 0 messages according to the account info yet there's a post the forum SW didn't register, link below, is there something wrong with the new forum SW with regards to amounts of posts or registration date?
