Well Tempered Simplex combo

I certainly didn't expect to buy a Well Tempered Simplex plinth for parts (it's missing the arm, pot, platter and AC adapter), but it was too cool to pass up. I got it at a great price from a nice eBay seller. Though the kind folks at the Well Tempered Lab said they'd gladly sell me a Simplex platter through the US distributor, the distributor refused my request, saying it would be cost prohibitive and offered no actual price. Shouldn't I be the judge of that? While it's his prerogative to conduct business any way he wants, I would think it beneficial to the Well Tempered brand to have it's used products as close to stock as possible.

There are other ways to skin this cat.

As I understand it, the spindle is built into the Simplex platter. Having been barred from the Simplex platter purchase, I bought a WTRP platter, spindle and bearing at a great price and plan to remove the Simplex bearing and drill for the WTRP bearing. If need be I'll add a layer t the bottom of the plinth to accommodate the WTRP bearing, Then I'll build another version of the Simplex arm with golf ball... I've built two in the past for my own use and they sound fantastic on my idlers. I've attached a photo of my arms on a Neat Shield MO-19 idler here. It's made of brass, stainless steel and carbon fiber... materials I'll likely use on this plinth to up the looks and performance.

Questions:
is the AC to DC power adapter rated 12V or lower? Info on the Amadeus says the DC motor will run with an AC adapter of between 7V and no more than 12V output and with at least 100 milliamps and above... center pin positive. I just happen to have an AC adapter right here that's 12V DC output with 750mL amps - I would think this fine, just want to be sure.
Anyone found a ready-made 2.25" od metal cup for the silicon that fits the hole in the Simplex base's hole? Looks like a brushed aluminum bottle may work if it can be cut to size.

The spindle diameter is 9/32 in. If you can get mdf machined to the right diameter, and sharpen the bottom of the spindle, and drill a hole to friction fit. I believe the platter diameter is 11.5 in, but I'm not sure. I suggest you use the Simplex bearing. It should be better than the old one. A 12 volt wall wart will work, but a better linear supply sounds better. If you have a band saw, you can use a chain link fence post cap for the silicone cup.

Thanks for your input. I plan to install the WTRP bearing and build a base to add depth to the Simplex plinth, since I have the platter, spindle and bearing readily available. Cool idea to use a chain link fence cap - I'll keep that in mind. I may be able to get a friend to 3D print a cup... any idea whether the arm wire plug is available or whether it's proprietary?

Thanks for your feedback. Yeh, direct soldering does guarantee a better sound. I was just trying to find that 5 pin connector to try it out or include it if I end up selling the table after I mod for the WTRP platter, spindle and bearing... I'll probably finish the arm just to be able to hear this thing.
