I bought a Well Tempered Record Player with a missing motor. Table arriving later this week. The platter should be close to 292mm diameter. Not sue of the hole diameter in the plinth as yet. Anyone have suggestions on a replacement? Anyone got a spare?
"Well Tempered Record Player" covers a number of possible models as a quick conversation with Mr Google will confirm....
Perhaps post some images of the deck once it arrives...?
Otherwise, best guess is two chickens on a treadmill...

Here's the Transparent era version of the WTRP sans motor. Here you'll see the Non Mat on the acrylic dished platter. It was a solution developed after people groused about the azimuth changing across a dished record. The mat cost $70 new back in the early 1990's. Mine had cracked in 3 so I taped the pieces together and plan to put a Herbie mat on it. Awaiting my 12 v DC motor being built with thread belt pulley and speed adjustment.
To my knowledge all the WTRP's used the dame 3.34" d round motor. I took my finger lift cartridge mount off another WT arm to put on this arm for now - looking for another if anyone wants to sell one!!!
Currently making a donut weight formed from a lead fishing weight to add to the top of the paddle. A worthy upgrade.
I have a Well Tempered Turntable from the mid 1980's as well that I've had since 1992. I've added the Marigo Well Damped Clamp, the upgraded black platter and an LP Labs Carbon Fiber Arm. The black platter is flat, not dished. Awesome table.

Missed the Classic and just see the square motor. Thanks for the link just the same.
One and the same..🙂
A Few Well Tempered Classic Pics
Your pic is the Well Tempered Record Player (late 1980's) http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/atta...otor-replacement-wtrp_fromtransparentmktg.jpg
and contemporaneous with The Well Tempered Turntable (now known as The Well Tempered Classic)
Check the platter diameters and if the same then get the Square and a friend with a bandsaw...😉

That's an idea, but I would hate to try fitting a square peg into a round hole. The round motor keeps the design whole... getting one made since I couldn't find a used round one. Thanks for responding!

I had a friend make an adjustable DC thread belt motor. I put in a bit more than I had originally intended to invest, BUT, it's a gorgeous build that sounds awesome. I also decided to update the WTRP's platter to the black damped one while they were plentiful on eBay. Had this version of the WTRP been the black piano finished original, I'd be absolutely ecstatic... it's laminate, but it's a solid player punching waaaaay above the investment. Thrilled.

I'm having the same problem you had with your Well Tempered Classic motor. You say that you had a friend make a new one, and I'm wondering whether you think that friend might do the same for me, and how much it might cost to do that. Thanks a million.Reply to thread

The friend who built my DC thread belt motor told me to tell others it would cost $850. Ouch. Have you tried Music Hall motors? Or Origin Live? Back a few years ago there were lots of DC turntable motors on eBay. I just looked and don't see the choices I saw back then.
Thanks, Adiof001, for the info on your friend. I'm afraid $850 is a little steep for me, but I'll check out Music Hall and see what they have. I looked at the Origin Live motors, but it looks like those are pretty pricey, too. I'm hoping Music Hall or an eBay motor will do the trick. Thanks, guys, for the help. I appreciate it.
Make a list of the specs, see suppliers for motors in India.
Those are like $10-20 for a small DC motor.
Look for that size of motor, volts, rpm, CW or CCW rotation. Shaft diameter also.
Even Papst and Baumuller may have something, those are expensive, but bullet proof.

Start from here, and go along, use this as your Google query.
"90 mm dc motor"
It looks like a small shop on line, and to cover their annual expenses from meager sales, they have marked it up in what seems to me an excess amount.
Flowery language, little details.

It might help you to budget, knowing that (I was told) Well Tempered motors cost about $450 each back in the 1990's when Well Tempered Labs were still making their original WT Turntables.
This just popped up on eBay $420 -"
The motor box is equipped with a powerful and durable brushless DC motor, which has a load capacity of about 6kg. The product has a height of 60-100 mm, OD: 90 mm - 100 mm, there are black and silver available."
Comes with 33.3-45-78 speed control box, AC power supply: 100-230v/50-60Hz.

The Well Tempered's are special tables - they're worth the investment. You may be able to find a cheap motor as a temporary fix, though you may have to find a different diameter pulley to get the speed close to 33.1/3rpm if it doesn't come with a speed box of the correct power. Any Well Tempered round moot that comes up for sale will likely be at least $250...$100 max., plus shipment, servo motor, brushless DC, maybe with controller and free shipping.
save your pennies.

Are you at all a handy DIY guy? My friend said he has one old Scheu DC motor that he could possibly sell to you for $75 (plus shipping and tax, I assume). You'd have to make/adapt it to a pod of sorts. FYI: The Well Tempered round motor has a 9 lb metal (lead) base for stability. The square motor has a 14 lb metal (lead) base. The Scheu motor has all the adjustments you'd need... no need for a speed box or external controller. Thanks, Adiof001, for the info on your friend. AliExpress cannot be accessed from my browser, some safety issue.
Here, Reebok shoes are made by suppliers who make similar shoes that sell for 20 to 25% of Reebok / Nike / Lotto /Adidas, all of them get the production done outside. No owned facilities.
Unless the Well Tempered table motor was specifically made in house, it is an out sourced brush less DC motor, with a controller similar to those used in today's inverter refrigerators, which start about $200 here (the refrigerator), good big ones around $300, and up to almost $2500 for a thing as big as a closet, double doors, digital displays and all.
I would not pay $250 for a small fractional horse power motor with a drive.
Papst and Baumuller are famous, look them up.
You are looking at brand, I am looking at guts.
What you need is a DC motor, you want to be fussy, it is your money, and the feeling of comfort you get by spending an excess amount, that is your decision.
