Is the speaker the type which uses fluid?
It should be a soft brass washer if it is a terminal washer, but sadly due to cost cutting they are mostly steel nowadays.
Do a listening test with and without the washer to find out if it is factory installed.
If it is needed, glue it in place (mark it before removing for testing).
My go to place for surreal humor is clips from Peter Sellers Pink Panther movies....for example: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...QtwJ6BAgMEAI&usg=AOvVaw12h2D8By7DcW-FaW45IKUy

steel washer that should not be there. Cadmium plated can look a bit like brass, yellow.
Just take it off
Just take it off
There most certainly is - but quoting the joke would probably break several forum rules and upset some readers ;-)Nut screws washers and bolts.
I think there's a joke in there somewhere!
I bought a used car decades ago, that once when I went to change the engine oil, I noticed 25/32" wrench still stuck on a bolt! It was on there pretty good too since it was the wrong size. I forgot all about it until this thread came up. Maybe it was there to help balance the engine vibration? Dunno. Sold the car, kept the wrench.
