Web Browsers

In a moment of boredom today I looked at FaceBook on the mobile app where nothing is blocked, you get all ads and other silly stuff.
FB recommend a dozen celebs for me to follow. It was heartening to see how far off the mark they were. Some I'd never heard of, others I had no interest in. How well do you know me FaceBook? Not very well at all. 😀

Edge is now Crome open source based. I guess MS decided it wasn't worth the expense to build their own browser anymore. But Edge starts with a page of stupid Tabloid sh1t. Ok, so the internet is mostly tabloid sh1t. Otherwise, MS keeps the extensions functional. I like to "read aloud" stuff while I go get a snack/coffee.
However, some classic PDF apps no longer rotate, etc., using the free version, but the PDF extension of Edge (+browsers) still works. A lot of schematics need rotation. Likewise, PDF architect is useless, but Irfan view will create a multi-page PDF from a list of images for free (and easy). Windows comes with a PDF print driver, but it is not as efficient as PDF creator.
I have Linux on a couple old computers but "Radio Garden", for example, does not run on my old Sony T7200 laptop because it's just too slow. It's sad that current software is so inefficient that it will not run on older machines. Java is usually the culprit.

Want to talk about browser woes? Try using a hotspot. You have to disable certain add on entirely (even if they're disabled on some pages) and even then not all browsers load all pages. It sucks ***. Wish linux had some nifty tools for making hotspots work better.

FYI: I tried the built in Opera blocking of ads and trackers, then tried Ghostery, then Adguard...
Adguard is the only one that blocked those annoying ads on FB and other platforms like when you google an air conditioner and all your feed is filled with ads about air conditioners? Gone! Of course you have to set it up... Enable everything you want to enable without breaking the internet (I don't disable social because I use it...)...

You're welcome.
