Weak Surround Sound

I have had problems lately with my speakers as they are producing a very weak sound. Ive narrowed it down to two problems, 1,the resistors and capacitors on the motherboard are somehow damaged, Or 2, the speakers are not drawing enough power as there are 9 speakers going into the motherboard. Would I just need a sound card to help power the speakers. If so, could you recommend any external sound cards, i can not free up any pci slots for an internal sound card. For your reference I tested each individually, it is not a problem with the speakers sound does come out it is just very dull especially in the side and rear surround speakers. The speakers are as follows kipsch promedia 2.1 (front speakers + subwoofer) , logitech z-2300 2.1 (front speakers + subwoofer), logitech x-540 5.1 (center, rear, side and subwoofer channels)

Most problems with surround sound and self powered speakers are caused by incorrent audio driver selection on the PC. Go to Start - Control Panel on your pc and select sound. See which driver is selected and make sure it's the one on your motherboard. Some graphics cards have audio outputs on them this can cause confusion in the Control Panel if is gets selected as the default driver.

Nine speakers is a lot - not sure how your getting them all connected as the max number of speakers on PC audio systems is 7 plus a woofer.
