Weak sounding "Block Logo" Phase 90
I've had this pedal for 20+ years, but haven't used it much lately. It sounds a bit weak in it's phasing. (amplitude, AND frequency) The battery is good, jacks, and pot are clean and working. What next?

I suspect you've become habituated to the stronger effects that digital processors have made possible, and it sounds exactly as it did twenty odd years ago. Your choice, stick with the vintage sound or get hold of a schematic and try modding it with the chance of adverse effects.
You're probably right. I thought it was sounded fine until someone A/B'd it against something else, and told me they thought it was broken. Vintage sound IS usually my preference. Thanks.
If I remember right the Phase 90 had 4 stages of phase shift while many others used 6 or 8 for a "deeper" effect. Maybe that's the problem.
I own several of the older script logo MXR Phase 90's...
There are several things that occur that make them weaker..
First the bypass caps are tantulaum.. Tantalum has very short life span and you can replace it with a electrolytics...It's up to you to choose the quality of the electrolytic.... The other major thing is the phase adjustement...There is a small trim pot on the circuit board...you can adjust this with a scope or by ear with guitar signal going through..it is a very sensitive adjustment where you center adjust it for strongest phase...
Contact me if you need additionla assistance..
