I think my next banana plug purchase will be the cheapos from Madisound. They're gold plated brass, have 2 set screws and are only $1.60 each. The plastic part looks uber cheap, but I'll toss that and cover that area up with heat shrink anyway.

I would really like to see a sawed nakamichiplug in detail. I was just about buying these nakamichiplugs but i want good copper quality.
I have several (stated to be) Nakamichi banana plugs purchased on eBay. None of them will stick to a strong magnet. Not the least.
Hm, grinding one of them I'd say it appear to be brass and not copper. But if I look through a magnifying glass it does seem to be copper.
I have no problem with 'Nakamichi' banana plugs, cheap does not mean bad. I use them despite being able to afford much more expensive ones if I wanted them and have used massive locking types for example. They are great to assemble (assuming you have enough wire in there to not have the screws dive in too deep and not have enough thread), look great and work well.
A very strong magnet can slide mine around on the bench but if they have any decent amount of nickel plating under the gold it could explain it.
I buy the absolute cheapest I can find on ebay.
