lashed up a couple of caps and 2 bridge rectifiers to try on my qudos 220 amp and it almost removed all of the hum !
result
i am now thinking about making a distribution unit 10A mains filter and a dc blocker built in to a box with iec leads all hard wired.

Since i tried dc blockers without caps, there is just no going back to the cap version. But people generally enjoy complications 🙂

i am open to better suggestions
and with out the caps smaller and cheaper
