The question is: brass or natural anodised aluminium for the knobs etc?
I've bagged a lovely piece of figured walnut for amp facias. It's 1230x210x40mm so I'm going to get 3x 400x???x40mm boards. The preamp will be the full 40mm deep with 2 inset bars that rotate selecting volume and source. I might split the remainder in two so I get 20mm boards.

Tubes, brass. SS with some beefy heatsinks sitting behind it would look great with brushed/machined aluminum. Especially if the rest of the presentation is pretty minimal.
Plenty of examples of modern/minimal furniture using nickel plated hardware on walnut. Similar aesthetic. If you're going for a more "classic" look, brass is hard to beat. (I've had examples of both, and, as a walnut enthusiast, both can look great)

I was going with brass originally but someone mentioned the Alu....
Looks like brass wins!

How about make your own wooden knobs....................... with a nice lighter contrast in colour. Just a thought, otherwise this is the most boring thread ever!
I've done that before. Metalwork is a new challenge!
It is rather boring isn't it? Just needed validation

That is the plan. As I can't really design amplifiers (using ACA x6) et cetera I thought I would design the casework to show individuality
