I guess if you could get a more powerful lamp in there it wouldent be too bad I guess. But can the lcd still display with the original lamp not in there?

I've purchased projectors that can do 1400x1050 off ebay for about $400. They're old JVC/Hughes LCOS projectors. Even though I have a new DLP projector as well, the extra resolution of the LCOS is great for home theater and gaming.
Before you go & buy one, be warned that they're not known to be as reliable as DLP, and they cost a lot to fix.
