a quick question. the two grounds on the input/output of a wah pedal... do they have to be isolated? The schematic seems to show them as not really connected, and most connectors are plastic. I want to use 1/4 metal jacks, and I'm worried if it will not work as they will be both grounded to the chasis.

Hi,
your schematic does not show the battery switching arrangements,
and as you say does not show the grounding arrangements.
The case should be grounded, but not used as the output connection.
You need a switching jack for the input, You can get insulated /
isolated metal jack sockets.

better be grounded!
😀
If you want the guitar amp isolated from the wah/input in terms of ground, use a 1:1 transformer at the output. The incoming signal into the transformer still needs to be grounded to the Batt and the input and the ground side of the circuit.
