VW speakers

I'd like to replace the front door and back speakers on my 85 Vanagon camper, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the speakers from the round plastic holders/enclosures. Maybe they are glued in, and not removeable? Any suggestions for removing them, and what should I replace them with? I'd really like to reuse the front door holders particularly, since with other possible complete replacements, I think they'd all interfere with the window crank.

I'm having the same problem. I decided to just look for the whole speaker/ mount setup since I accidentally destroyed the original thinking it was just old. Please let me know if you've figured this one out and I'll do the same for you

just go to circuitcity and they have these things they sell for your mouinting brackets for speakers. they are plastic and all you have to do is drill your hole in them. Its quite easy.
