Hi,
Have a Philips VR813 wich plays perfect with VHS tapes. When i insert a prerecorded SVHS tape the picture looks like this.
No horizontal nor vertical sync, picture looks embossed and negative, a bit like playing a NTSS tapes. Now and then their is a bit of sound. I replaced all caps in the PSU.
Anyone?

I take it that the VR813 is a S-VHS player? Has it always done this as far as you know, or is this something that just started? If memory serves me right, there are S-VHS decks that can only output S-VHS tapes via S-Video, not composite. I've played S-Video tapes on regular VHS and gotten similar results.

The VR813 is indeed a SVHS player. It's not mine. A friend brought it in because of the problem. Looking at the scope output on pin 19 of the SCART connector (CVBS-out) i see the same bad picture as on the normal screen which is RF. Idem on the S-video-out. The picture from the scope is about one period. (Hard to take pictures at that frequentie😱 )
