After a (too) long silence, I have finally completed my Wireless remote control for the NAKAMICHI 1000ZXL / 700ZXL: it has already been succesfully tested by two ZXL owners, but I would like another volunteer to test it, in order to be 100% sure that there is no issue !
The volunteer should be located in Europe to avoid the Customs paperwork...
The system can remote control a Nakamichi 1000ZXL via a dedicated (not a chinese generic) I.R. remote control, with the names of the buttons matching properly the names of the original wired RM-300.
An Android Smartphone application is also available to use your Smartphone instead of the I.R. Remote: it can be useful in case of something hides the infrared signals, such a TV screen for example.
The system supports ALL the original RM-300 functions, including all the RAMM functions, with the exception of the Cueing 1/6th that is not supported by the current Firmware version.

The price of the system is not yet defined, but if you are a volunteer, you will only be charged by the costs of parts (no labour, no margin, just the costs of the parts).

I have 2 1000ZXL Decks with one Limited version - I can volunteer. However I feel some one can design nice Calibration Jig ( not the copy of Original Nakamichi stuff but modern one that can really be effective?) i would definitely interested in participation. I can pay for costs and volunteer
I live in US and do not have problem of customs but if you find some one in Europe it is fine

For this step, maybe it is better to find somebody in Europe because in case some error(s) is (are) detected, the microcontroller hosting the Firmware will have to be sent back to me for an update (in most cases it is not necessary to send back all the package, unless a faulty hardware component is suspected -> very rare).
I have dispatched a complete system to somebody in Europe that is volunteer to test (but I am not yet 100% sure he will perform the tests), so maybe we can wait 1 week more to get his feedback: do you agree ?.
But your proposal is very interesting for 2 reasons: you own 2 1000ZXL, and because 1 of them is a "Limited" version: I explain why it is interesting:
1-/.For the users having a "Limited" version, I can propose a special Firmware that will (for example) display the Owner's name on the LCD screen at startup -> this is to match with the original Nakamichi spirit, where the Limited versions had a special plate on the front, engraved with the owner's name.
2-/.The system could be modified (I mean adapted) to control 2 different ZXL in the same room: this will require 2 systems (one connected to each ZXL) but the Firmware can be adapted in order that the ZXL1 does not react to an order coming from the I.R. remote 2.
The I.R. remote 2 will have to be reprogrammed too, as well as the Android Smartphone application: It not a simple modification, but it should be possible.
This is interesting only if the two ZXL are in the same room and are ON simultaneously: if they are in different rooms (or if only one is ON at any time), no problem.
Let me know (by MP if you prefer) if you are interested by this ?
I would prefer to have a third confirmation that the system is 100% OK before shipping/selling it to non E.U. countries, but I would appreciate to discuss with you about this by MP.😉🙂
