Volume size box help.

I have a project in fact this is exact replica of the cynosure part express speaker, a center line array.

My real question is the original box has a size of 24x4x14 that give .519 ft volulme,

In the project they say the best would be to put the port up front, instead on the side on the original plan, So I calculate if i put the port on the front that would give me a 34x4x10 and a .516 ft volume. compare to .519 ft volume

Is their any problem with my new size box ? Or it's only the amout of volume that is important, in this ? Sorry If it's sound has maybe a newbie question.

Thank you for your help.

Hmmm.... that's 5.18 cu in. My poor woodworking skills don't allow me to worry about such a small difference. 😉

From years of cut and try experience, I can tell you this: if you want to change the behavior of the box audibly, you'll have to make a bigger change than .5%.

Thing is, 34x4x10 is looking a lot like a TL. Maybe someone with MathCAD could run some numbers and tell you if you've transitioned from a box to a pipe.

Experiment with Polyfill?

If I remember right from my speaker-building days, polyfill can allow you to reduce the box volume 5-10% (?), WAY less than the difference you're talking about. I'm considering a practically identical project - already have a completed Cynosure for parts - and my depth is limited, so I'm considering cheating the volume down a bit.
