I have a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 which makes a loud feedback type "WOOO" sound when switched on from cold.
The sound appears at two particular points when adjusting the vol pot. I tried cleaning the pot with deoxit and moved it back and forth many times but the noise persists for a little while then dissapears.
Any thoughts on what could be causing the noise?

'At the speaker terminals' adds a LOT of variables.
Do you see the noise on the output terminals of the volume control?
Do you see the noise on the output terminals of the volume control?
There's no noise on the volume control terminals, the noise appears between the volume control and IC V1680
I swapped out the output IC as I had spare and the noise is still there, its a very loud morse code like tone and it dissapears after a few minutes.
Does the noise ONLY happen at two rotational points on the volume control?
If so, did you check for the noise on the volume control at those points?
If so, did you check for the noise on the volume control at those points?
Yes the noise happens at two rotational points on the vol control pot,
Yes I checked for noise on the vol control pot at the noise points and I couldn't find any noise
On another note I found when the loud noise disappears there's still like a white noise hiss at the two noisy points of the vol control.
I might swap out the pot and see what happens

That stinks of worn pot track or some dirt clinging to its surface there, it might be something as plain as some lint but when you lose contact, you lose it.
Semi confirmed by getting hiss at those points: next stage becomes open input.
Best is just replace it.

You may have noticed that Perry asked some specific detailed questions. It's called 'diagnosis'. If you want to help to get to the specific issue you have, it is helpful to try to answer those questions the best you can, rather than go off on a tangent.

I've noticed the feedback is only present when the fader is set dead centre, adjusting the fader fully to front or fully to rear speakers the noise dissapears?
After 2-3 minutes the noise dissapears.
